Why Choose the Los Angeles Marathon?
Boston Qualification
The most obvious reason for choosing the LA Marathon race is that it qualifies you for the Boston Marathon—the most prestigious race in the US and the world’s oldest annual running marathon. However, simply participating in the race is not enough—you will have to get a qualifying time to be allowed to apply. The qualifying time differs for genders and ages.
Supporting Charities
The Los Angeles Marathon is known for supporting the local community and giving to the world. Since day 1, the LA Marathon has supported various charities. To contribute, you can either run for Team TMF or one of the partner charities.
To further their cause, The McCourt Foundation has also started a charity half marathon. If you want to support a good cause but don’t feel like running a whole marathon, consider joining the Los Angeles Half Marathon 2023.
Long-Standing Tradition
The LA Marathon has a long history that dates back to 1970 when it was still just the Griffith Park Marathon. The modern LA Marathon started in 1986 (37 years ago) and has earned a trustworthy reputation among its participants. By choosing the Los Angeles Marathon, you can be sure that everything is up to the highest standards.
