Second, this Rhode Island marathon is USATF-certified and is a Boston Qualifier. So, if you are a serious competitor, this event is right up your alley.

Finally, most of the proceeds from the event go to local charities and non-profit organizations, including Aquidneck Land Trust, Boys Town New England, Clean Ocean Access, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, and the Newport County YMCA.

2. Providence Marathon & Rhode Races

The capital of Rhode Island is no stranger to the running culture. Providence Marathon & Rhode Races is among the most anticipated races of the year.

Participants are encouraged to assemble their own teams and fundraise for their preferred charities and non-profits. It is USATF-certified and a Boston Qualifier, making it a prime choice for competitive racers.

This Providence race takes place on the East Bay Bike path, shrouded in pleasant shades of Rhode Island greenery. The first and last 8 miles of the path are relatively steep with hills of varying heights, but the middle part is pretty flat.

3. Red Island Marathon

The course is a pleasant, shaded path closed to car traffic.

4. New England Marathon and Half Marathon

New England Series is a string of six races taking place in various states. Day 2 takes place in Lincoln, Rhode Island.

It is not as serious as some other entries on this list, but nonetheless, it is an amazing opportunity for you or your children to dip your toes into competitive running without too much stress.

11. Ronald McDonald House Women’s Classic 5K Race and 3K Walk

The Ronald McDonald House Women’s 5K race in RI is the only all-women race in the state. This flat and fast 5K course will see you starting at Brown University Stadium and running through the East Side of Providence.
