There are not many marathons in New Jersey, but in this blog post, we look in detail at the main ones.

1. FallApple

Sep 10, 2022 – Saturday
50M, 50K, 26.2M, 13.1M, 10K trail run
South Orange, NJ

The FallApple course goes through fire roads, single track, and pavement at South Mountain Reservation. It is one of the best races in NJ and is designed to be fast and fun. 

In early September, the course should be dry and good for running. Every 3 miles, you will find aid stations.

You’ll find aid stations at the beginning and at the end of the run.

10K Event
Every 3 miles, you will have access to aid.

13.1M Event 
Every 3 miles, you will have access to aid.

Registration: Price increases to $75.00 after August 31, 2022 at 11:59pm EDT

Marathon 
Every 3 miles, you will find aid stations.
Start Time: 8:30 am EDT

50K Event
Every 3 miles, you will find aid stations.

2. NJ Trail Series One Day

NJ Trail Series One Day is a certified  NJ13501JHP, NJ13502JHP, NJ13503JHP 1.000 mile flat loop on pavement and crushed gravel.

Certified 50K Course (NJ13503JHP)
Certified 50 Mile Time – will be exactly 50 laps
Certified 100 Mile Time – will be exactly 100 laps

This NJ running race is tracked using the MYLaps ProChip & scoring system. When the runner crosses over the mat to mark a “split,” the system will record it. Each split is equal to one lap.  Only completed laps counts.

Pacers are not allowed.  The course is very runnable.

Any two or more registered runners can run together as they will be using the same course.

The aid station will work from 9:00 am on Thursday through Sunday morning and include  running cooks who will prepare food that will keep you full of energy. Vegan options are also available.  

3. Atlantic City Marathon

Oct 22, 2022 – Saturday
10K, 5K run
Oct 23, 2022 – Sunday

Atlantic City, NJ

The Atlantic City Marathon was founded in 1958 and is the third oldest marathon in the United States. Besides the marathon, runners will also have the option to run one of the best half marathons in New Jersey, a 10k or a 5k.

Athletes will run through Absecon Island and the cities of Atlantic City, Ventnor, Margate, and Longport. The course will provide scenic views for every runner from Boardwalk Casinos to the Marina District and beach towns.

The marathon is a USATF Certified Boston Qualifier, and the event historically takes place each year in October.

It is also (RRCA) State Championship Event!

All runners can enjoy drinking beer at the Finish Line Beer Garden at Harry’s Oyster Bar featuring the Double Nickel Brewing Company.

The Double Nickel Brewing Company Finish Line Beer Garden will offer tasty free food and live music throughout the day.

4. Cape May Marathon Weekend

5K, Relay, Half Marathon

The Cape May Hallowed Half Marathon Weekend is a spectacular race with all the spooky spirit of Halloween! This run is the perfect option whether you’re looking to hit a new goal in a half marathon or just have fun with friends doing a 5K in New Jersey.

5K – October 28, 2022, running event starts at 7:30 PM

13.1 & Relay – October 29, 2022 race starts at 7:30 AM

Registration will take place in 4 waves, with 250 registrations per wave.  Wave 1 will open at 6 am on November 1, 2022.

Athletes need to pass the halfway point by 1:45:00 and finish by 3:30:00 (16:01/mile). Those runners who don’t make it on time will be picked up by an official race vehicle.

A Halloween Awards Party is planned after the race. The top 3 males/females, top 3 Master’s males/females, top 3 age group runners (19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and above), and top 3 relay teams will be awarded.

Half marathon and relay runners receive a pint glass and a race shirt. All finishers receive a race medal.  5K Runners will receive a race shirt.
