Oklahoma is well known for its booming agriculture and energy industries and Native American heritage. Runners like this state for its large variety of running events for all experience levels.

If you are looking for some good races in Oklahoma, grab a cup of tea, make yourself comfortable and get ready to read our list of top events.

Thematic

1. Turkey Trot

Turkey Trot in Tulsa is one of the most popular family races. It takes place a day after the Thanksgiving tradition of Black Friday and gathers a lot of local citizens and out-of-town guests.

Here you can run a 5k and Fun Run & Walk. The price is $45 for the 5K and $30 for the Fun Run.

The course starts and finishes at the giant Christmas Tree at the BOK Center.

Don’t hurry home after the race – have fun at the downtown Tulsa Winterfest celebration with delicious food, hot drinks, and good music!

2. JediOKC Masquerade Run

Do you like costume races? If yes, you have to participate in this event! It takes place in Oklahoma City in October. Run the Masquerade Fun Run 5k and support children’s mental health because most proceeds go to INTEGRIS Mental Health Spencer.

JediOKC is Oklahoma’s largest Star Wars Fan Club. Established in 2001, it was originally a place for like-minded fans to share their love of Star Wars. This organization is unique because they do a lot for people in need.

What about the price? It starts at $35 for early birds and finishes at $45 for those who register on race day.

What about the costume contest? There will be three of them: adults, children, and pets. And this will be gorgeous! Don’t miss it!

5k Races in Oklahoma

3. Miles for Mammograms 5k & Fun Run

Run a 5k in October in Bartlesville and support the Family Healthcare Clinic, which provides free Mammograms for patients who are unable to afford access to this lifesaving screening.

The price for participation is $30 for adults and $20 for children under 12.

Come and have a good run with a noble purpose!

4. Moore War Run

This race is held in August in Moore. Each year from 500 to 1,000 runners come to Moore High School to run their 5k and support student initiatives at Moore and Westmoore High Schools in the Moore Public School District. 

Runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome at this event. This run is sanctioned by the USATF and timed with ChampionChips.

The price is $35 for adults and $15 for students.

5. Winter Warm Up Oklahoma City

How about a frosty winter 5k in Oklahoma? Come to Edmond in January to participate in this heartwarming family run that gathers more than 1,000 participants each year.

Run 5k or 10k in Oklahoma City and get a t-shirt and a special medal. Registration is not open yet. So the price of the next race won’t be available until registration opens.

This run is a part of a local Bodies Race series which always encourages runners with different running experiences. So, the Winter Warm Up is good for newbies and skilled runners.

6. Brookhaven Run

The Brookhaven Run is one of the oldest races in Oklahoma. The 5k course is USATF certified as one of the flattest roads in the state. And the course is made even more comfortable with music and water stations each kilometer.

The race takes place in September in Norman. It gathers from one to five thousand runners each year. The price for participation starts from $25 for early birds and increases to $35 closer to the race date.

There will be cash prizes for the top three finishers and, of course, a big party after the finish line!

7. Project Life Run 5K

Let’s go back to Oklahoma City races. This town has many exciting activities to offer throughout the year. The Project Life Run takes place in August and brings together about 500 participants, who can choose between a 5k and 1-mile run. 

The Oklahoma City Fire Department founded the race for a good purpose – raising funds to purchase smoke alarms to offer to anyone who needs them, free of charge.

The event is good entertainment for the whole family. Organizers also provide great music, good food, and a lot of fun in the firefighters’ company. 

The course is certified by USATF. The price for participation is $35.

10K in Oklahoma

8. Spring Sprint Oklahoma City

Looking for Oklahoma City runs in the spring? Consider this one. It takes place in April, gathers more than a thousand runners each year, and symbolizes the start of warm days.

This running event is a part of the local Bodies Race series. These events are famous for their cozy atmosphere and a lot of fun.

It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or an experienced runner – the course is excellent. You can choose between a 5k and an Oklahoma 10k.

As for the price – the registration process is still closed, but you can check the website for updates.

9. Conquer the Gauntlet

If you prefer obstacle races and like to test your endurance, this running event is for you. Conquer the Gauntlet is an exhausting race with more than 20 obstacles that attracts 5,000 runners each year. You’ll have to sprint, climb, run, jump, claw and crawl your way to the finish line.

The run takes place in Tulsa in September. The price for participation is $85.

This run is designed to test your limits, show your character, strengthen your commitment and connect you to your community. If this is for you – pass registration and prepare to be challenged!

10. Bison View 5K

This race is for those who like scenic courses. Bison View is a hybrid course that takes you through some of the most beautiful parts of the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. It takes place in Sulphur in September. Each year about 500 runners come to run and see various wild animals, including bison.

After the finish, you can visit the city center, the Car Show, and enjoy lots of tasty food and drinks. Most of the proceeds go to support the Chickasaw National Recreation Area.

The price for participation is $30.

Marathons and Half Marathons in Oklahoma

11. Go Half Crazy

Are you excited about the ’80s? Do you feel a little bit crazy? If yes, you just can’t miss this event. Come to Oklahoma City in October and participate in one of the most original Oklahoma City running trails. Each year Go Half Crazy attracts about 5,000 runners with its 5k, 10k, and a half-marathon.

There will be a lot of fun, tasty food, and good beer after the finish. Don’t forget about the costume contest – the best will get a prize!

You’ll have to pay for participation from $35 to $55, depending on the type of race you choose.

12. Okie Half

This annual USATF race is held in Muskogee at the end of March. It offers a 5k or a half-marathon. Each year about 500 runners come to run the course, which starts and finishes in a restored aircraft hangar and passes through parts of downtown Muskogee.

Registration is $22.50 for the 5k and $50 for the half-marathon, but hurry up – it will grow to $60!

13. Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon

This is the most popular and honorable race among all Oklahoma running events. It takes place on the last weekend of April in Oklahoma City. Here you can run a marathon, half-marathon, relay, 5k, kid’s marathon, and some challenges.

The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is a Boston qualifying USATF-sanctioned event on a certified 26.2-mile single-loop course. It’s been rated one of 12 “must-run” marathons by Runner’s World magazine.

This running event is good for skilled runners aiming to qualify for the Boston Marathon, those who are only starting their running careers, kids, and whole families. Oklahomans love the race for its many fun activities after the finish.

To get the prices for the next year, you must sign up on the site and check for updates because registration is currently closed.

14. The Williams Route 66 Marathon

Tulsa running races are famous for their variety and different levels of physical fitness. The Williams Route 66 Marathon is a USATF-certified course and a Boston Qualifier.

To participate in the Williams Route 66 Marathon, come to Tulsa in November and choose from a mile, 5k, half marathon, marathon, half marathon double, marathon double, and marathon relay. The price ranges from $25 to $340, depending on the race.

The event stands out for its on-course support from the local community and plenty of fun. The neighborhoods host block parties all along the course to welcome and cheer on the runners!

15. Golden Driller Marathon

This is another running event in Tulsa, where you can run a 5k,10k, half-marathon, or marathon. All distances are USATF certified, and the marathon is a Boston qualifier. Each April, the race brings together 500 to 1000 participants from all over the state.

This event is first-come, first-serve. The waiting list usually starts in the middle of April. If you have already joined the waiting list, check your profile closer to the date. The prices will also be available closer to the date.
