Summary of rules
Simple version
Run, Walk, Hike, Ruck around the lake as many times as you can or you and your teammate.
Calling it a day before the end of your allotted timed race. No problem! In the case of both races if you want to retire early from your event just let us know at the timing station, and we will close out your race day and post your results after the event ends. Certainly, feel free to then kick back and root on others to their finishes.
All Participants will remain within their registered race (Individual 5mile, 3hr, 6- or 12-hour) (Team 3hr, 6h or 12hr). Ties-for-distance issues are resolved by sequence at the final scorekeeping station. There is no credit for lost time. There is no correction for competitive inequalities.
Tent set up
An area of the course will run through our "tent town" enabling participants to set up small tents, chairs, small tables. This serves as a great home base for your race day. We will have a "tent for the tentless" that is also our Main Stocked aid Station. Tents can go up as early as 6:30am (more to come).
Aid
There are two aid stations, a large one near the timing trailer (start/Finish) with the most variety, and a smaller one on the opposite side of the course with the only water essentials. What to expect at provided aid station: water, sport drink, soda, fruit, bars, chips, etc. Later in the race, pizza will also be available in limited quantities.
Runner expectations, Headphones, etc.
All athletes are responsible for their own good sportsmanship, as well as their crew. Dishonest actions will lead to disqualification
Be courteous to fellow citizens sharing the park – we will disqualify
Headphones are discouraged, we ask that you are aware of your surroundings for everyone's safety.
Please use caution when on the access road on the east side of the lake. We will have cones and flags marking “our” piece of the road facing oncoming traffic. Safety First is paramount. There are no pacers permitted within the race.
*The following will not be permitted on race day by participants: Pets, Runners not wearing a official race bib, baby joggers/strollers, roller skates, roller blades, Skateboards. The trail does not permit the use of motorized vehicles as well.
*Our preferred start to our races would be a traditional mass start to each race distance however, we will be following state & local health guidelines in the conducting of the race. In addition to adhering to health guidelines, we will continue to monitor COVID-19 data and adapt our race day strategies. Even with our race being a smaller field event, in a trail setting, the safety of our runners, volunteers and community is paramount.
FAQ's
Q: Is the team event a relay race?
A: No, the 2 teammates in the 3hr, 6hr and 12hr races are trying to accumulate as many laps/miles in their race. The team can choose on their own to run together or separate at any time during the event. If runner 1 wants to take a break from running at their tent and runner 2 (runner 1's teammate) wants to keep running, they can certainly do so. Another example if runner 1 finishes with 20miles and runner 2 finishes with 40miles the teams total score is 60 total miles.
Q: Can I retire early from my race that I signed up for?
A: Yes, you decide when you finish your race. Ex. (If you sign up for the 12hr race and only want to run 8hrs then want to call it a day you are permitted to do so.) You only have to let the timers/scorekeepers know you are closing out your day early.
