Unity Run 5K: A Move with the Mayor Event 5k and Health Festival

The Inaugural Unity 5K Race is an opportunity for members of the Baton Rouge community to come together around Community, Health, and Fun. 

The 5K race will provide an opportunity for people to be active while also giving groups across Baton Rouge opportunities to compete for prizes in the following categories:  So gather up your friends and family to form a team.  The team with the largest amount of members in each category will win a prize. 

Categories:

Large Colleges/ Universities
K-12 Schools
Large Employers (over 100 employees)
Small Employers (less than 100 employees)
Community Groups (church, nonprofit, etc.)
Fraternity/Sorority groups and alumni associations  

Winners will receive a donation (businesses could donate the funds to a group of their choice or could use it towards an employee appreciation) and be mentioned in an ad we would take out in the Advocate announcing the winners and recap from the event.

Registration Fees:  5K Run/Walk - This event is FREE to everyone of all ages that wants to participate.  With your registration you will get a race t-shirt.  There is a limit of 400 so don't waste any time getting your team together and getting registered.

Age Groups: 1-14,15-19,20-29,30- 39,etc. 70+

Awards: Top Overall Male & Female, & 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Male & Female each age group

The Health Festival will have partner vendors set up around the courtyard with activities for people to participate in. There will be no paper handouts/flyers allowed. We will also partner with our community garden and farms to do demos and volunteer in the botanical gardens. We will have kids zones and opportunities for community dialogue and discussion.
