If you're like us and wished Halloween wasn't over on October 31st, come and join us 4 days after for our first annual Monster Mash Dash featuring the Frightful 5k, and the Terrifying 10k! This is a new race supporting a cause near and dear to our hearts, the Backpack Program. Here is a statement from my mother, who was on the ground floor of establishing the program in our community:

"The Backpack Program was started by the Macon County Community Advisory Board (MCCAB) in January 2010. I [Melissa Shrum] applied for a grant from Second Harvest and we were granted food to feed 50 students per week. The purpose of this program is to send food home with students of Macon County on Friday afternoon so that they can have food to enjoy over the weekend. It had been brought to MCCAB’s attention that there were children who seemed to only thrive at school after returning for a day or two and partaking in the free breakfast and lunches. Students are referred by school staff and are given the “backpack” of food privately. We are currently providing food for 250 students every week at a cost of around $5.90 each. Our current Second Harvest grant is for 90 students."

So if you enjoy Halloween, supporting a great cause, running/walking, or just being around fun people then I hope you'll join us on November 4th at the Macon County Cross Country Course located next to the Macon County High School. Halloween costumes are not only welcome, but ENCOURAGED! We hope to see you there, IF you DARE!

Race will begin at 8:00 AM CST.

Address is 2550 Days Road Lafayette, TN 37083.

The course is a 5k grass cross country course. 10k runners will run the course twice.

Please arrive no later than 7:45 to pick up your shirt and bib. We will be there to check people in starting at 7:00. Feel free to arrive early and scope out the course/warm up.

Register online, or you can register the day of (prices will increase). Register before October 20th to be guaranteed a shirt on race day.

Parking is located anywhere at the Macon County High School campus.

Please wear something SPOOKY! We will be awarding a prize for the best Halloween attire!

We will be going old school with no chip timers, just pen and paper and eyeballs watching for your number to cross. 

We will present the top 3 finishers awards after the conclusion of the two races.
