The Statesboro 5K Turkey Trot is an annual fundraising event for the Bulloch County Foundation for Public School Education. All proceeds are used to provide fund the Foundation's innovation grants for teachers, provide college scholarships for Bulloch County's REACH Georgia Scholars, and support the Bulloch County Teacher of the Year and Bulloch County STAR Student/Teacher programs. Thank you for your participation. Your support truly makes a difference in the lives of teachers and students.
We encourage you to register as an individual or gather friends and co-workers and register as a team of five or more people to receive a discount. Also, you can also register children 12 years old and younger for the Fun Run, which is a 100-yard dash prior to the main race.
Registration
Pricing for registration will increase by $5 on November 18, 2024 at 11:59 pm. Registration will remain open through race day. Interested persons may still register on event day, Nov. 23, beginning at 8 a.m. Look for the registration table on the Bulloch County Courthouse Square. T-shirts are limited, so participants are encouraged to register by November 18, 2024 to guarantee a t-shirt.
Early Packet Pick Up for Pre-registered Participants
Participants who are registered by November 20, may pick up their race packet early. Early race packet pick up is scheduled for Friday, November 22, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Bulloch County Board of Education, located at 150 Williams Road, in Statesboro, GA. Enter entrance A at the front of the building.
Event Schedule
The festivities begin at 8:30 a.m. with a 100-yard dash with local business mascots. Next, children 12 years of age and younger can register for the fun run, and the main 5K event for all ages begins at 9 a.m. in front of City Hall. An awards ceremony for top finishers from each of the age divisions is at 11 a.m. at the Courthouse Square.
All registered participants receive a gift bag. The first 300 registered participants receive a t-shirt. Pre-register by Nov. 4 to guarantee your preferred size. Participants are encouraged to wear team-themed t-shirts and Thanksgiving costumes.

Race Route
Set in the heart of downtown Statesboro's historic retail and residential neighborhoods, it’s fun for the whole family. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome. Wagons, strollers and even family-friendly canines on leashes are welcome. Walk as an individual or form a team.
Bulloch County Foundation for Public Education
The Bulloch County Foundation for Public School Education, which is a 501(c)3 charitable organization, hosts the event each year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The Foundation is managed by a 12-member board of trustees who meets monthly.
Since 2006, the Bulloch County Foundation for Public Education has funded more than 290 innovative classroom teacher grants totaling more than $357,560 to provide learning experiences for Bulloch County children.
The Foundation gives individuals, businesses, industries and civic organizations a way to invest in local education programs that benefit public, charter, private and home-schooled students. The Foundation’s two major fundraising campaigns are the Statesboro 5K Turkey Trot, donations, and Bulloch County Schools’ Payroll deduction option for employees.
The Foundation funds Bulloch County School’s annual participation in the REACH Georgia Scholarship Program with a $5,000 annual contribution. As a result, four graduating REACH scholars each receive a $10,000 scholarship for college in addition to any HOPE scholarship or other private scholarships they may earn.
The Foundation is the local underwriting sponsor for the Professional Association of GA Educator’s STAR Student/Teacher program. The Foundation’s financial support makes this program possible locally for Bulloch County’s public, private and charter schools.
The Foundation is also one of the main corporate sponsors for Bulloch County Schools’ Teacher of the Year program. The Foundation annually provides a $1,000 grant to the district’s teacher of the year.
