Event details

Groundwork Bridgeport and the Jerome Orcutt Club will host a 5K (3.11mi) Walk & Run at Seaside Park this fall! We hope to bring the community together through a morning of active fun in one of Bridgeport's most beautiful and historic public spaces. Originally designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and developed by P.T. Barnum, the park is a true gem and one of Bridgeport and Connecticut's greatest treasures.

WE OFFER THREE EVENTS DESIGNED TO ENCOURAGE ALL ABILITY LEVELS- all three are entirely within the park and closed to traffic.

Our accurately measured 5K (3.11mi) route will leave from the monumental Perry Memorial Arch. The course provides a scenic tour along the coast on very flat and accessible roads and sidewalks. You can run or walk in our timed 5K event, all abilities are encouraged and welcome. Our courses are well marked with signs, cones, mile splits & volunteers. It has been designed to keep you safe and free from traffic.  5K finishers ONLY are eligible for awards.

Our One Mile Walk is a wonderful alternative for those not wanting to take on the 5k distance. Families, youngsters, adults, strollers...enjoy a great one mile loop within Seaside Park. Finishers at this distance are not eligible for awards.

Our FREE Kids Fun Run & Scamper is for 9 years and under ONLY. Parents/guardians can accompany their little tykes if needed.

AFTER YOU ARE FINISHED-  you can enjoy snacks, refreshments and fluids. You’ll meet other community members on the lawn. We hope this event will bring people together, promote connections and join in support of our charities. At times running and walking can feel like an individual sport, but not when you’re running with the Jerome Orcutt Club and Groundwork Bridgeport!

Any proceeds and donations will be evenly divided between the Jerome Orcutt Club and Groundwork Bridgeport. The Jerome Orcutt Club is a community center that empowers all young people through a safe and fun learning environment. Groundwork Bridgeport is a community-based organization dedicated to the holistic revitalization of Bridgeport through physical, social, and environmental interventions.
