Running of the Bulls 2023
Join us for the 12th Annual Running of the Bulls during the July Gallery Night. Our beneficiary is the West Florida Roller Derby. This fun, family-friendly event is Pensacola's version of the Festival de San Fermin in Pamplona, Spain that was made famous by Ernest Hemingway. Participants will be chased by spirited "Bulls," on skates with custom Horns on their helmets. As a member of WFTDA they promote and foster the sport of women's flat track roller derby by facilitating the development of athletic ability, sportswomanship, and goodwill. WFRD is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
At the first cannon blast, set to go off at 6:30 pm, runners will take to the roughly one-mile course. The "Bulls" will be released at the second cannon blast, wielding whiffle bats to chase down the participants. As is customary in Pamplona, runners are requested to wear all white with red kerchiefs or sashes.
Following the Running of the Bulls, the festival will continue in Phineas Phogg's in Seville Quarter with Latin entertainment and Awards for the Bulls. Their prize categories include Most Creative Horns, Most Beautiful Horns, Best Costume and Horns and more. Registered participants (with wristbands) will get complimentary Miller Lite, Pamplona Punch and Coca Cola products.
T-shirt, Wristband pick-up and late registration will be Friday, July 21, from 3 to 6 pm at Seville Quarter, 130 East Government Street, Pensacola 32502. Shirts will be distributed to pre-registered participants on a "first come" basis (as supplies last). There is no guarantee for shirt sizes.
