Event details

Run the Eclipse 5k Run is the premier running event of the 2024 solar eclipse - an epic virtual 5k race that can be run by anyone anywhere in the 13 states experiencing the totality.

On April 8th, join a symphony of footsteps under the grand celestial dance of the sun and moon. As day surrenders to an eerie twilight, you’ll race through the fleeting dusk, enveloped by the awe of the cosmos.

Run the Eclipse isn’t just a run; it’s an ethereal journey that aligns your heartbeat with the universe’s rarest show. Lace up for the most monumental run of your life — where every step defies the ordinary and every breath is a gulp of the extraordinary. As the sun is covered by the moon, day temporarily turns to night.

Time your run to coincide with the totality in your area - or start a bit early so you finish as things turn dark. It's totally up to you!

What You Get

Every entry includes commemorative race swag:

  1. Premium Race Shirt • Pick your size, then adorn your effort with a garment that’s as stellar as your will to push through the penumbra.
  2. Finisher's Medal • A token of cosmic proportion, signifying your triumph over the terrestrial as you embraced the celestial.
  3. Eclipse Sunglasses • Peer into the sun’s majesty without fear, with specialized eyewear allowing for safe solar admiration.

A Once-in-a-Lifetime Run

Join runners from across the country on one of the most magical runs ever. Because on 4/8/24, we pay homage to the skies. This distance - 4.824km - was chosen not just for its numerical charm but for its uniqueness.

As if the heavens had a hand in its design, this distance is nearly a perfect three miles – a triumvirate of miles for a triad of celestial magic. It’s a poetic dance between the sun, the moon, and the Earth, mirrored in every stride you take.

It is also short enough to welcome runners of all levels, yet significant enough to mark the occasion with the gravity it deserves.
