Be a Claus for a Cause!
All proceeds from this event go to support the programs and services The Arc of the Piedmont provides for people in Charlottesville and the surrounding community living with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This year we are asking companies, families and individuals to get together with some of their closest friends, family and co-workers and raise a money for The Arc of the Piedmont’s mission to help serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This is not a must to participate in our Santa Fun Run, but we will be promoting it as a competition. Awards/prizes will be presented to the top corporate and family team fundraisers. Thank you for supporting our mission!
Event Day:
Registrants will receive their costumes (Santa suit for adults and elf ears for children). Please arrive to the check-in location in front of Ting Pavilion on the Downtown Mall between 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. to receive your costume and turn in any donations if applicable. No paper tickets are necessary.
Enjoy lite snacks starting at 8:30 a.m. before the run/walk begins. Participants will follow the 1-mile route beginning and finishing at Ting Pavilion on the Downtown Mall. Spectators are welcome along the Mall and along the 1-mile route. The Santa Run will take place rain, snow, or shine! Unfortunately, no refunds can be granted.
The Rivanna Greenbelt Marathon is officially certified by the USATF (VA14004TR) and a Boston Qualifier. The course is 6.5 "loops" of the fairly flat 4-mile out-and-back trail beginning at Riverview Park and following along the river on the Rivanna Greenbelt Trail.
The Rivanna Greenbelt Half Marathon course is 3.25 "loops" of the fairly flat 4-mile out-and-back trail beginning at Riverview Park and following along the river on the Rivanna Greenbelt Trail. Please note this is a public trail that can be accessed by others during the race.
Water stops are located at the start/finish and 2 mile turnaround.
All runners receive official timing splits every 2 miles by Blue Ridge Timing, a uniquely handmade miniature Coney (our race mascot), and a long-sleeve shirt. Please review the FAQ for details about this quirky and unique race.
All runners must complete the course in under 5 hours to receive official results, no exceptions.
*If you want to participate, but the registration fee is a financial hardship, please contact Leah Connor. There are no refunds.
