RACE THROUGH HISTORY!
The fourth annual Pyramids Half Marathon will take place on Saturday, December 10th, 2022, inviting runners from around the world to #RaceThroughHistory at the most iconic of locations: the Great Pyramids of Giza. Egypt’s signature running event doesn’t just offer the 21K, but also the 10K and 5K distances, meaning anyone can take part and race through 5000 years of history!

INFORMATION
The Pyramids Half Marathon takes you up close and personal to the last remaining Ancient Wonder of the World. All three races will remain entirely within the Pyramids Complex, extending the amount of time runners can Race Through History alongside the Great Pyramids of Giza. The race course is fully pedestrianised and is staffed by The TriFactory event organisers and volunteers. The 5K course is fairly flat, while the 10K and 21K courses feature several rolling hills and inclines, including the long decline down to the Sphinx and resulting incline on the way back up towards the Finish Line.
The exact distances for each of the three races are as follows:
- 5K Race - 4.82 kilometres
- 10K Race - 10.0 kilometres
- 21K Race - 21.1 kilometres (official distance)
SCHEDULE
Runners will be able to pick up their race packs at the Official Pyramids Half Marathon Race Expo on the TWO days preceding the Pyramids Half Marathon. The Expo takes place at Arkan Plaza in El Sheikh Zayed district. The Expo will be operational for six hours on both Thursday & Friday for runners to drop by and pick up their Race Packs, attend the Race Briefings, and visit all of the exciting booths that will be set up there by our sponsors and partners.

Race Day
- 6:00 Entry to the Pyramids begins
- 7:50 Final call to the Start Line
- 8:00 All three races start
- 11:00 Final cut-off time
- 11:00 Awards Ceremony
ACCESS TO THE PYRAMIDS
Entering the Pyramids via the Fayoum Road Gate on Race Day will require an Access Bracelet. Access Bracelets must be collected from the Expo.
START LINE ZONE
Upon arrival, runners should head to the Start Line Zone, where they will be able to:
- Find refreshments (Nestle water & Lamar juice)
- Deposit your belongings at the Baggage Claim
- Use the portable toilets installed at the Start Line Zone
- Visit the Alfa Medical tent for any medical problems
- Visit the Alfa Physiotherapy tent for any lingering cramps or aches
- Head to the Spectator Zone to see your friends and family before the Race
- Take fun photos and pictures

Attend the Closing Ceremony at the Stage, where the winners will be announced
TIMING
All runners (21K, 10K, & 5K) will be timed using the MyLaps Timing System. The electronic timing chip will be fastened to the race number that every runner receives at the Race Expo. Final results will be posted online and organised via overall ranking and age groups.
Every runner’s time will begin when they cross the Start Line, and overall finish times will be calculated based on chip time, not gun time. This means you do not need to rush forward when the start signal is given – your time will be calculated when you cross the Start Line, even if that is several minutes after the start signal is given.
