Pikes Peak Marathon + Ascent
Sub-events Details
Marathon
Running since 1956, Pikes Peak Marathon is the oldest continuously held marathon in the United States. The trail takes runners from Manitou Springs to the Pikes Peak at above 14,000 feet.
Besides the marathon, the event includes a 13.3-mile sister race, Pikes Peak Ascent, that finishes at the summit. Both races are physically demanding and previous experience in high-altitude running is recommended. Expect eight aid stations, each with water, Gatorade, energy bars, fruit, cookies, and pretzels.
