UPDATE 9/29/2022 - Refunds have begun to be issued. All participants should review the email that was sent to them on 9/18/2022 for information on what they should be expecting for a refund based on their situation. Please know refunds are being processed in batches over the course of the next several days. It is with deep regret that we are announcing the cancellation of the 2022 Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K, which was to be held on October 2, 2022.

Since November 2021, when we learned that our beloved Grafton to Milwaukee course was no longer going to be an option due to multi-year construction, our goal was to bring a major running event to the shores of Milwaukee that we, residents, spectators and of course runners could be proud of for years to come. We understood and were prepared for the challenges with planning a new event. We worked through volunteer hours designing over a dozen course routes before we found one the City verbally approved and still met our high standards for our runners experience. Unfortunately, we faced hurdles that we simply could not overcome including ongoing changes and demands to route safety and security measures, governmental procedures and timelines and City vendor staffing shortages.

We would like to thank the hundreds of volunteers that were ready to assist, our sponsors and all those who had been working closely with us. The Badgerland Striders, Wisconsin’s largest running club produces this event for the benefit of providing funding to school running groups, other running related non-profits and infrastructure projects in Southeastern Wisconsin. We are runners ourselves and we understand the emotions that you may be feeling. No decision like this comes easy and it would not have been made if there was a possibility that we could resolve our differences with more time.

Please know that as volunteers putting on a race for you to enjoy, we are as devastated by this news as you are.
