Event details

The maple sap is running as the trees wake up after the winter, and this is a perfect opportunity to get back to running the trails.  Join us for a competitive race or a fun run/walk and start the spring off on the right foot.  After the professionally timed race, stick around for the McCloud Maple Syrup Days and Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser, fun for the whole family!

Packet pickup: Saturday, March 2, 8-8:30 am at McCloud Nature Park

Registration includes:

  • Chipped timed 5K/10K
  • Finish line snacks
  • Everyone will receive a warm, fuzzy fleece headband with the embroidered name of the run.
  • Medals will be awarded for the top time overall, and top times for both the 5K and 10K in approximately 15-year age brackets.  The unique engraved walnut medals were created from a fallen tree from McCloud Nature Park.

Route:

UPDATED ROUTE, as of March 3, 2022:  Due to the high chance of the floodplain trails flooding, we moved the course to the upper trails.  This route is mapped at 3.07 miles, and those running the 10K route will complete the course twice.  The route is marked with blue arrow signs, is generally counterclockwise, and is entirely on McCloud Nature Park property.  The route is on grass and gravel trails, expect some mud.  You’ll run past sap buckets on maple trees, past the Sugar Shack, along Big Walnut Creek, and you’ll be in the forest and prairie on this course.  The elevation gain is 211 feet.  The course crosses the park driveway in two places, and includes these trails: Red-tailed Ridge, Big Walnut Crossing, Coyote Ridge, Woodland Way, Fox Chase, and Prairie View.
