Lucy was diagnosed with a rare disease called Parry Romberg Syndrome in July of 2020. This disease causes degenerative damage to one side of the face. Since her diagnosis, she has undergone heavy medication treatments and four major surgeries to reconstruct her face and combat the further progression of the disease. Also, during this time, she has become a stronger and more faith filled individual, and she has inspired others to be strong through whatever hard times they may face. She has always wanted to do more than receive so this race is put on in efforts to race awareness and donate to the amazing organizations and foundations that supported her during her journey.
