About This Event:
The Kal-Haven Trail Run is a well-respected event that offers a competitive ultra-run and allows participants from all fitness levels to be involved as a solo runner, 2-person relay, or 3-6 person relay team. Challenging trail runs are empowering and uniquely satisfying to all of those that participate. The KAR Kal-Haven Ultra Run will be held on the Kal-Haven Trail State Park, offering a scenic run from Kalamazoo to Bloomingdale and back.  This year is unique because the trail is closed from Bloomingdale to South Haven, so it is an “out and back” run with a celebration in Bloomingdale as a turn-around point. The six aid stations provide hydration and snacks that are designed to address runner sustenance needs based on their run distance. These stations also provide runners with relay points and unique rejuvenation; while also supporting an opportunity for “fans” to support them.  For the first time this year, the event will feature expo booths to connect runners to industry partners who showcase their runner and health products. It’s a day that is sure to be challenging, yet fun. The scenic route as an out and back makes for a predictable run where the runners can run on autopilot and not have to focus on where to turn along the course. Unique this year, runners will be able to cheer on other runners as they turn around and head back.

Registration:
Payment must be made when you register - there will be NO payment accepted at packet pick-up or race day. 

As well, there is no paper registrations. If you are planning to register day of, please bring a device that you can register on.

  • 2 Person Team Registration - $50 per team member

• Saturday, April 14th (Race Morning) from 6:00 am – 7:15 am @ Kal-Haven Trail on 10th Street (where the race starts)  

Event Information:

Solo Runners – 7:00 am start

• • Kalamazoo to Bloomingdale back to Kalamazoo, MI 33.5 miles
  • Solo runners may have up to 3 drop bags
    • Gobles (On the way out)
    • Kendall (On the way back)

2 Person Teams – 7:15 am start 

• Kalamazoo to Bloomingdale back to Kalamazoo 

• Team member substitutions: The team captain may make changes to their teams online up to midnight on 03/31/24

3 to 6 Person Teams – 7:30 am start

• Teams with fewer than 6 runners are still required to complete each leg as detailed below.
  • 10th Street to 6th Street 
  • 6th Street to Kendall 
  • Kendall to Bloomingdale 
• Note – all distances are provided by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources
• Team member substitutions: The team captain may make changes to their teams online up to midnight on 03/31/2024.

Parking

Please note that parking is not allowed along 10th Street or along the entrance to the 10th Street Trailhead. Sunday morning parking will be limited to the first 50 cars. There will be a provided shuttle service for everyone attending the Kal-Haven Trail Run. Starting from Center Point Church at 2345 10th St N, Kalamazoo, the shuttle will run on a continuous loop from 6 am to 7:45 am, then starting on demand service at 8 am until 3 pm

The Fine Print

• All registrations are final, no refunds or deferments will be given.
• To guarantee a t-shirt, registration must be received by April 7, 2024. IF YOU ORDER AFTER APRIL 7th, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A T-SHIRT.

• Important note for 3 to 6 person COED relay teams
  • A coed 3-4 person team must have a minimum of one female runner
  • A coed 5-6 person team must have a minimum of two female runners 

• Team member substitutions: The team captain may make changes to their teams online up to midnight on 03/31/23.

This year's apparel:

To receive a t-shirt, registration must be received by April 7, 2024.   IF YOU ORDER AFTER APRIL 7th, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A T-SHIRT.

 Awards:

• All finishers will receive a finisher medal
• Awards for each event will be broken down to 5 year age groups, and will have awards for Male, Female, and Non-Binary
