Sub-events Details
1 Mile Fun Run
5K Run
T-SHIRT ONLY
Jarid was a Bryan County Sheriff’s Deputy who lost his life in the line of duty on January 14, 2020. He was in route to a 911 call when he was in a fatal car accident. Although he loved his job, he was much more than a police officer. Jarid’s greatest accomplishment was being a Daddy to two beautiful children. He loved to deer hunt, watch OU football, and had the best sense of humor. Jarid leaves behind family and friends who loved him dearly who want to always honor and remember him for the wonderful person he was.
Where do proceeds go?
● OK C.O.P.S. chapter—This organization assists family members and co-workers of fallen police officers in the state of Oklahoma with resources to help them after experiencing such a tragic loss. To date, we have given over $15,000 to C.O.P.S.
● Heart of a Hero award—One cadet at each CLEET & KTC police academy graduation is awarded the Jarid Taylor Heart of a Hero award where they receive a monetary amount and personalized plaque. To date, we have awarded 8 Heart of a Hero awards.
● Blessed Peacemaker award—Beginning this year, an officer from every Bryan county police department will be nominated by their peers for the Blessed Peacemaker award. The recipient will be announced at the 5k.
● Supporting local law enforcement—Beginning this year, we will partner with a local police department and provide funds to help purchase equipment, materials, supplies, etc. to aid them in serving the community. This year we are partnering with Durant PD.
It is my hope that the Jarid Taylor Memorial 5k & 1M Fun Run will be an event that not only helps bring our community together in support of our local law enforcement, but allows those who participate an opportunity to remember Jarid and celebrate both his life and birthday which is July 28th.
