The Hohler Memorial Bi-Continental 5K Run/walk was created to benefit the children of Hope Children’s Fund (HCF). 

Established in 2005, HCF is a New York State Licensed 501(C)3 organization dedicated to assisting orphaned children in Meru, Kenya. Through our comprehensive support, these children receive essential resources such as food, clothing, shelter, medical care, and educational opportunities.

 

HCF is unique in its operational model: we have no paid staff or offices in the U.S., relying entirely on the efforts of passionate volunteers. This ensures that 100% of every donation goes directly to benefit the children. In Meru, a team of twelve dedicated Kenyan employees manages the orphanage, currently home to 92 children. These children receive immediate care and the chance to pursue their educational dreams, with many going on to complete college.

 

By signing up for or donating to our 5K event, you directly contribute to the wellbeing and future of these children. Your support will help us continue providing the essential resources and opportunities they need to thrive. Race Details:

IN-PERSON -  This course is USATF certified (NY23098DNB) and sanctioned. Race will take place at Saint Anselm’s Episcopal Church, 4 Woodville Road, Shoreham, New York on Saturday, September 6, 2025. Race Day Check-in & Pre-Registration is 8-8:45am with the run starting at 9:00am. Medals & Shirts will be provided to participants that have pre-registered by 8/19/2025; finisher shirts for those who register after 8/19/2025 will be on a first come basis. The family pack includes 2 adults and 2 children. 

 

This run is a rain or shine event and will be on part of the North Shore Rail Trail.

 

VIRTUAL -  ANY TIME and ANYWHERE you choose up to Saturday, September 6, 2025; virtual participants can upload race time by 5pm on Saturday, September 13, 2025.
