Join us to celebrate our 2 year anniversary and raise awareness during Mental Health Awareness Month, by racing your way May 1-May 31, 2021. Run or walk a distance of 5K. Choose your favorite trail, course or treadmill. The choice is yours! Don’t forget to share your photos on social media using #GirlScoutingforAwareness!

Why We Race

Two years ago, the Girls of Troop 20018 created this 5K for their Silver Award (the highest award a Cadette Girl Scout can earn), to raise awareness of the importance of mental health in our community. The proceeds were used to create a Camp Scholarship Fund for Bell Socialization Services' Camp Heron. The scholarship fund allowed over 30 clients to attend an amazing outdoor experience that may have never had the opportunity without the fund.

A 5K race cannot end the mental health stigma, but the need to create change and working together can make a difference. All proceeds from the Girl Scouting for Awareness 5K will support Senior/Ambassador Troop's Summer 2022 trip to Savannah, Georgia, where they will visit the birthplace of the Girl Scout founder Juliette Gordon Low, a woman who created the largest and most successful organization for girls in the world. A portion of the funds will also be used to purchase much needed items from Bell Socialization Services' Wishlist.

These 12 amazing young women have discovered the fun, friendship, and power of Girls together. They have grown courageous and strong through a wide variety of enriching experiences, such as field trips, cookie sales, community service projects, camping, and environmental stewardships.

Girl Scouts helps girls develop their full individual potential; relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect; develop values to guide their actions and provide the foundation for sound decision making; and contribute to the improvement of society through their abilities, leadership skills, and cooperation with others.
