Ed's Hurricane Hustle

Join Ed Piotrowski, Coastal Carolina University, Teal Nation and Apex Promoz to kick off hurricane season in the Carolinas with a one of a kind 5K and 1 Mile race experience. This race is going to be the most exciting and entertaining running event in Horry County in 2024, no other event will be live streamed by WPDE and no where else will all participants get to finish their run on the 50 yard line of Brooks Stadium on the beautiful Teal field. We will also be celebrating with CCU and all of Teal Nation as CCU turns 70 in 2024. This is going to be the event of the summer and we want all of you to join us! 

Immediately after the race Ed Piotrowski, WPDE and CCU is inviting everyone to attend the Hurricane Expo. This expo will have numerous vendors, food, giveaways and games for all to take part in.

Awards

We again be doing a "Best Ed" competition, come out in costume and show us your best version of Ed for a chance to win the trophy. We want to see you in your wild and crazy suits or you meteorology outfits.

Race awards will be given in the following categories for the 5k.   

Overall:

Male & Female 1st, 2nd, 3rd (Based on gun time)

Age Division Structure: (Age group awards are based chip time)

0 to 10  |  11 to 15  |  16 to 20  |  21 to 25  |  26 to 30  |  31 to 35  |  36 to 40  |  41 to 45 |  46 to 50  |  51 to 55  |  56 to 60  |  61 to 65  |  66 to 70  |  71 to 75  | 75+ 

 

Parking

Parking will be available at all Coastal Carolina University parking lots. A map will be posted closer to the race date with preferred parking lots and shuttle information if they are needed.
