Marathon
We believe this is your best chance to run a certified 26.2 mile road marathon in Delaware! As a USATF certified Boston Marathon Qualifier, historically 10%-12% of our marathon runners have qualified for Boston.
The first 13 miles of the marathon race route travels throughtout downtown Wilmington-- across beautiful Brandywine Park on the Brandywine River, along prestigious parkways, through historic neighborhoods of Wilmington, near the 100-year-old tower in Rockford park and past downtown’s Rodney Square. The second half of the marathon route is along the scenic and tranquil Jack Markell Trail making its way almost to New Castle and returning to the festivities at Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park for the post-race celebration with the other race participants.
Overall Winners: Trophies will be awarded to the overall male and female champions as well as to the second and third place finishers.
Awards Ceremony: The awards ceremony will take place at the main stage in the center of Tubman Garrett Riverfront Park at 11:00am. Only the overall winners from the full marathon, half marathon, 10k, and 5k will be awarded at the ceremony. Age group awards will be mailed.
Age Groups: Prizes go to the top three non-elite male and female age group finishers for the marathon in each of the following divisions: 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35- 39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70+
(NOTE: There must be a minimum of 5 competitors in a given age group in order for an award to be issued. The event reserves the right to reduce or eliminate awards in a given age group if there are fewer than 5 participants.)
Age group awards will be mailed within a month after the event after finishing times have been verified.
