Colonial Road Runners Dash for CASA 5K
on the Billsburg/Virginia Capital Trail 5K course
Saturday, November 18, 2023 – 10:00 a.m.
Williamsburg, Virginia

This race is a replacement race in 2023 for the Governor’s Land 5K Run, and remains on the traditional Saturday-before-Thanksgiving race date. Governor’s Land has been a popular Colonial Road Runners Grand Prix race since 1993, on a flat and fast course, but which could not be held this year. Governor’s Land will return in 2024 under the organization and leadership of Pat Dent and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), which will be the beneficiary, and be part of the race organization, for this year’s November 18th race.

The Billsburg/Virginia Capital Trail 5K course is equally fast as Governor’s Land, and is also on a USATF-certified 5K course.

CASA – Court Appointed Special Advocates – Promotes the best interests of children and youth who have experienced abuse or neglect, many of them in foster care. Volunteers are appointed by judges to advocate for the children’s best interest, which makes a life-changing difference. “We believe that every child should be given the opportunity to thrive in a safe and loving home.” Pat Dent, a board member of CASA for the past five years, and vice president of CASA for 2023, is experienced in road race organization. The past Fire Chief for the City of Williamsburg, Dent has been part of the race organization for the Virginia Fire Chiefs 5K, a CRR Grand Prix event the past four years, which starts and finishes on historic Duke of Gloucester Street. Dent is also a Williamsburg City Council member, and is currently the Vice Mayor.
