The Charlevoix Marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifying race. Both the Marathon and the Half Marathon courses are certified and insured by USATF. All events start on Michigan Avenue in the beautiful downtown area of Charlevoix.
Timing- Running Fit Timing does the timing for this event. No need to turn in your chip at the end of the race. The system is the latest technology, efficient and user friendly. Immediate results on your I-Phone. They are very easy to use! Photo finish for all marathon and half marathon participants available on your I-phone.
You will receive a finisher's medal. The marathon start is 6:00am. The roads re-open at 1:00pm and timing ends at 1:00pm. If you finish after 1:00pm you will need to email your time to the timing company and they will post your time.
The Marathon is and out back course.
The Half Marathon is an - out - and - back course.
Expect a very scenic race with some of the most breathtaking views available of any marathon course. You will run along the shores of Lake Michigan several times throughout the course. You will enjoy more views of Lake Michigan than in past years.
The Marathon and Half Marathon are out and back courses beginning on Bridge Street in the beautiful downtown area of Charlevoix. The course will take you through fantastic residential tree lined neighborhoods for over 3.5 miles then onto the bike trail at Waller and US31. The course is primarily flat, fast, shaded for the most part with some inclines. There is a hill on the marathon course at about mile marker 7.
The finish line will close at 1:00pm. Anyone finishing after this time (6.5 hours for the Marathon)will not receive an official finish time but will receive a finisher's medal. (You may need to finish on the sidewalk). Finish line food will be available to all finishers however may not be available after 1:15pm. Water, Gatorade, PowerAide, GU, snacks and first aid will be available. The last aid station will close at approximately 11:30am. Others will close on a "rolling" time. Race officials will be monitoring the course for late finishers.
