Beat the Blues Cruise originated in 2019 to fundraise and promote awareness surrounding suicide.
Our event chooses one LOCAL (in or surrounding Dane County) and one NATIONAL charity to donate all proceeds to. In our 5-year existence, we have donated over $100,000 to various organizations that support veterans, the LGBTQ community, farmers, the National suicide Hotline and more!
This year our donations will be to Healing Patriots (healing patriots.org) and Custom Canines (customcanines.org). Both work towards mental health services, healing and preventions of trauma, and suicide prevention and education. You may donate through BTBC and choose "DONATE" and 100% will go towards our charity partners. Or, you may choose to go their individual websites to do the same. Know that our operation is "home grown" and all of the volunteers' time is unpaid. All funds raised will go directly to the charities chosen each year.
Our event is staged out of Middleton, WI, at KEVA Recreation Center. Our 5K course is flat and a single loop, including about half the distance through the beautiful trail of the Pheasant Branch Conservancy. This is a self-supported course; please carry water you need along the way. Refreshments will be at the finish line only.
Additionally, we host an indoor silent auction with items ranging from handmade jewelry, wooden art, and assorted gift baskets. These are all graciously donated by our sponsors and various artisans. Silent auction will run from 8:30am-10:30am day of event and is cashless (check, credit card, Venmo)
