The Muscle Shoals National Heritage area is full of music makers and other talented artists. To support the arts in the MSNHA, we are excited to announce the Artsy Fartsy 5k and 1-mile Fun Run, part of the Heritage Area Hustle Race Series. The location is for this the inaugural Artsy Fartsy is the City of Florence's brand new River Heritage Park! You won’t want to miss running, skipping, hopping, or strolling (whatever your preference!) in this beautiful spot with scenic views of the Tennessee River, Wilson Dam, babbling brooks, and local flora.  Invite your friends and family to join you after the run for live music at the amphitheater featuring Coffee Black!

The Artsy Fartsy is part of the Heritage Area Hustle Race Series. Participate in the Artsy Fartsy, the Bad Kitty (5k, 10k, March 16) and the Shady Lady (5k, 10k, and Half Marathon, October 26) and receive a special medal for completing the series!

The Artsy Fartsy is a non-profit event organized by the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area, a National Park Service-funded program housed at the University of North Alabama. All proceeds will help support MSNHA arts-focused projects.

*Register by May 22, 2024 to receive a t-shirt the day of the race. Late registrants will have their shirt mailed to them.

Transgender and Non-binary Participant Policy:

We strive to create and foster a culture of inclusivity. While we have designed an experience that may challenge our racers, it is also important to us that all participants are accepted and welcomed at our events.

We accept each entrant’s declared sex and gender at face value. No additional supporting evidence is required.

Our registration platform Runsignup.com offers a non-binary option for participants. This should appear as an option when creating a Runsignup.com account. If you already have an account you may need to edit your account to show your gender as non-binary. You can edit your profile by following these instructions.  In addition to your Runsignup profile, we will ask your gender identity during the registration process with additional terms such as Two Spirit, Non-binary, Agender, Genderqueer, and other. We will provide an opportunity for our runners to express their desired pronouns at Race Day Check-in. We will have an awards category for the top three overall non-binary runners in each event.
