This signifies the completion of the first scouting hike of the American Perimeter Trail, and beginning of a large conservation and volunteer effort to create a protected corridor around the contiguous United States. The American Perimeter Trail will be America's newest and longest premiere hiking trail at over 12,000 miles upon completion. Proceeds from this race go to supporting the last leg of his journey and the next steps to turning the American Perimeter Trail into a National Scenic Trail, similar to the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail and Continental Divide Trail.
