The Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN) is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated launch of the 2025 FCSN 5 Alarm 5K Run to Remember, taking place on Thursday, April 10th, at 6:00 pm at White River State Park in Indianapolis during FDIC International.

The run is open to participants of all levels and backgrounds, offering a flat, fast, and closed course that winds around the scenic Indianapolis Canal. Register by Wednesday, March 20 to be guaranteed a commemorative shirt! Participants can choose to be timed or untimed. Those not inclined to run can contribute or sponsor a team or runner via the Donate page on the website.

Dedicated to the memory of Chief Bobby Halton, a cherished supporter of FCSN, the 5 ALARM 5k Run to Remember is a tribute to his enduring commitment and dedication to the firefighter community. Chief Halton served as a friend, mentor, and advocate for FCSN. His personal battle with cancer connected him deeply and motivated his support in assisting firefighters and EMS providers facing a cancer diagnosis.

In Chief Halton’s honor, the Halton family will be is gifting the top fundraiser between October 1 and January 30th conference costs for FDIC 2025 as well as lodging and transportation.

The 5 ALARM 5k Run to Remember holds special significance as it not only pays homage to Chief Halton but also serves as an opportunity to remember and honor firefighters battling cancer, pay tribute to those who have passed, and celebrate those still with us in the firefighting community.

At the 2023 IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial, almost 66% of the names added to the wall were members who died from occupational cancer. In the same year, 72% of Line of Duty deaths among IAFF members were attributed to occupational cancer.

Proceeds directly support FCSN's mission to assist firefighters and EMS providers diagnosed with cancer. The FCSN provides crucial resources, badge-to-badge support, training, and guidance to those facing the challenges of a cancer diagnosis.

Join us in honoring Chief Bobby Halton's legacy and supporting the FCSN mission by becoming a sponsor or participant in the 5 ALARM 5k Run to Remember or donating to the $5 for 5 Alarm fundraiser. Together, we can make a difference and show our commitment to the well-being of our firefighting community.
