Towne Bank Outer Banks Marathon & Half Marathon

November 8-10, 2024

The OBX Towne Bank Marathon is the oldest continuously running road race in the Outer Banks! The marathon course is fast and flat, which makes it the perfect place for your first marathon or even your own personal record! Participants will enjoy the gorgeous natural scenery along the course as it twists and turns across the islands of the Outer Banks. Spectators line up to cheer on all the athletes and as you cross the finish line, the party is right there waiting for you! The post-race celebration will feature live music and entertainment, as well as excellent southern barbecue (free for all runners!) and an awesome beer garden for all those 21+.

There will also be plenty of family-friendly, exciting activities to celebrate a race well run. OBXSE will be hosting a two-day sports and fitness expo where packet pick up will happen before the race. Participants will be given a race t-shirt along with our 2024 finisher items.

The Outer Banks Marathon Weekend features many different options for events to race in. Not only is there the Towne Bank Marathon, but also the Half Marathon and the Surf Pediatrics Surf & Soar 5K, 8K and Fun Run.

Course Support

• Hydration stations will be established every 2-3 miles along the course
• Gatorade will be available at most water stops
• Gu Energy will be available at miles 10, 12 and 14 according to the course map
• Bananas and cookies will be available at miles 10, 20 and 22
• Restrooms: Port-a-Potties will be adjacent to water stops
• Pacers/Groups: There will be Pace Teams available to help you achieve your goal

2024 Marathon & Half Marathon

The Expo and packet pick-up for the 2024 OBX Marathon weekend will start on Friday, November 8th (1-7 p.m.) and run through Saturday, November 9th (11 a.m.-4 p.m.). It will be held at St. Andrews By-the-Sea in Nags Head.

It is very important that you pick up your packet before the day of your race or event. If you are unable to do that, you can arrange for someone else to pick it up for you.
