Tennessee’s Oldest Marathon, the Andrew Jackson Marathon, began in 1972 as a celebration of the city’s Sesquicentennial Anniversary and eventually became an annual event, adding a half marathon along the way. The event is now managed by the Jackson Roadrunners and benefits the Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. The looped course offers a marathon distance (two loops) and a half marathon distance (one loop) that winds its way from beautiful downtown through historic midtown Jackson up to Interstate 40 and back to midtown via scenic neighborhoods. Come join us to help the Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse continue their mission and stay to see what our beautiful city has to offer.
The Andrew Jackson Marathon is a certified Boston Marathon Qualifier and we encourage anyone to meet their goal. So much so, that If you compete in the 2025 Andrew Jackson Marathon and meet your Boston Marathon qualifying time goal, we will pay your entry fee for the 2026 Boston Marathon! Share your goal with us on our Facebook page before the AJM race day so that we can keep track and wish you luck. Upon receiving your acceptance letter from the Boston Athletics Association, with AJM listed as your qualifying race, simply mail or email your info and a copy of the letter and we will reimburse your 2026 Boston Marathon entry fee. OFFER IS LIMITED: This offer will only be available to the first three male and first three female runners to send in the 2026 Boston Marathon acceptance letter. The safety of our runners, volunteers and spectators is key. The Jackson Police Department and Road Guards make every effort to keep our runners safe. However, please note that portions of the course will be open to traffic, portions will have lane closures and major intersection crossings will have police protection. As you run along the course, please be aware of your surroundings and runners around you to help ensure the safety of all participants. There will be a 6.0 hour time limit on the course. Marathon participants must be 16 years of age or older on race day.
No Headphones / No Dogs / No Strollers on the course.
Both races will start and finish at the West Tennessee Farmer's Market in downtown Jackson, just a couple of blocks from public parking areas with plenty of free parking. Roads closest to the start and finish lines will be closed to thru traffic so be aware of available parking areas. As the race will be taking place on Saturday morning, the Farmer's Market will be in full operation with food trucks and vendors offering everything from fresh vegetables, fruits, meats, dairy, baked goods, and many other items.
