TRES Retriever Run: The STEAMazing Race (1 Mile Fun Run/Walk and STEAM Spectacular)

• The Retriever Run: The STEAMazing Race is open for registration to all students, families, and community members
• Registration includes Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) activities
• Participants may run or walk the 1-mile course!
• Everyone who registers/makes a donation will be entered to win 4 admission vouchers to the Maryland Science Center!

****Siblings ages 4 and under are not required to register to participate. Parents are encouraged to register as part of the fundraiser, but it is not required. As long as your child is registered for the run, parents and any siblings ages 4 and under can also participate in the STEAM activities.****

After the fun run, STEAM activities and demonstrations will include:

• Eric Energy Science Spectacular Show: Vortex Fog Rings, Bubbling Potions, and Clouds on the Ground!
• CitySwing Foundation Golf Simulator Truck & Putting Green

• Egg Drop Station - See if your egg can safely land after being dropped from a West Friendship Fire Department Fire Truck!
  
• VEX Robots, 3D Printer, and Scratch Programming Kits from iCode Columbia
• NOAA Satellite Launch Activity and Photo Opportunity
• Science is Elemental – The Science of Soccer and The Science of Running
• Magnus Chess Academy Activity
• Mathnasium of Ellicott City and C2 Education Math Tables
• Live Music, including the "Star-Spangled Banner" prior to the race and a full band performance throughout from the Columbia School of Rock
• "Super Cybersecurity Grandma" book reading by author, cybersecurity expert, and University of Maryland Global Campus Director, Dr. Loyce Best Pailen (see more information on the Super Cybersecurity Grandma Book Series here)
• Howard Soil Conservation District
• Paper Airplanes, Bead Coding, Snap Circuits, and Science of Sound Stations
• KidzArt Printmaking

What’s in the Different Registration Tiers?

• For $30, the Puppy Registration includes:
  • Two Crocs Charms (Treasure and TRES Paw Print)
  • Entry to the Retriever Run and STEAM Spectacular 
• For $60, the Treasured Registration includes:
  • Two Crocs Charms (Treasure and TRES Paw Print)
  • Choice of TRES Scrunchie or TRES Duncan Yo-Yo
  • Entry to the Retriever Run and STEAM Spectacular
• For $100, the Top Dog Registration includes:
  • Two Crocs Charms (Treasure and TRES Paw Print)
  • TRES Scrunchie or TRES Duncan Yo-Yo*
  • TRES Jeweled Headband (kids' size) or TRES Bucket Hat (kids' size)
  • Entry to the Retriever Run and STEAM Spectacular

*Giveaways will be distributed during school hours prior to the race. Any community members can pick up their shirts/giveaways on the day of the race. 

Event Schedule on November 16, 2024

• 10:30am: Onsite giveaway/shirt pickup
• 11:00am: Fun Run/Walk Begins
• 11:30am – 2:00pm: STEAM Spectacular and Food Trucks
