18th Annual NVRC/Herbie's Home "Town Loop" (HHL) 4 Mile Run/Walk

The NVRC/18th annual Herbie's Home Town Loop 4 mile run/walk will be held  on Saturday, August 3rd beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Rogers Stadium

 

If you can not participate in the run/walk, we are looking for volunteers on race day. 

 

Jeremy Herbstritt was a 1998 Bellefonte Area High School graduate who loved life and the outdoors. He, and 31 other students and professors, were killed during a mass shooting on April 16, 2007 at Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia. 

 

Herbie’s Home “Town Loop” was created by Jeremy's family and friends in 2007 to remember and honor him, and give something back to the community who gave so much to them in their time of grief.

 

We started this labor of love 18 years ago to build a track in the Bellefonte area to allow our home school to practice and compete and provide a place for our community to gather and enjoy the outdoors and some exercise. Our dream was realized in 2019 when the Jeremy Herbstritt and Lt Jonas Martin Panik US Navy premier track and field facility became a reality at Rogers Stadium.

 

Funds raised from this year’s event will benefit the Bellefonte Track and Field program. The Bellefonte track and field booster club sponsors the Jeremy Herbstritt Memorial T&F Invitational for junior high (7th & 8th grade). Portions of the proceeds from the invitational help support the Jeremy Herbstritt Memorial Scholarship that is presented to two Bellefonte graduating seniors on behalf of Jeremy’s family. This race will help boost the portion allotted to this scholarship.

 

In addition, a portion of this year’s race will also go to the family of a local Bellefonte Area High School student- athlete, Nathan Dan, lost in a swimming accident this past May. The BAHS lacrosse team will be collecting donations at the race as well to help the Dan family create a scholarship in Nate’s name.

 

All participants are encouraged to visit the Bellefonte Arts & Crafts Fair in downtown Bellefonte on August 2nd and 3rd. You can take a free shuttle down from the high school after the race.

COURSE: The 4-mile course is wheel measured. The run/walk begins and ends at the Bellefonte Area HS track and traverses the perimeter of the town of Bellefonte.

RACE DAY REGISTRATION and BIB PICK-UP will take place on Saturday, August 03, 2024 beginning at 7am at Rogers Stadium (Bellefonte Area track).

 

FREE PARKING is available at Bellefonte Area High School

All NVRC members receive a $5 discount!

 

Elizabeth's Handmades (HHL awards sponsor) will be selling her awesome sweets at the race. If you LOVE our cookie awards you can take some extra treats home after the race!

 

Bellefonte Lacrosse team will be at the race collecting donations for Nathan Dan's family to help establish a scholarship in hs name!
