Kansas is often called the “heart of America”\u200e because it is located in the geographical center of the continental United States, bordered by Oklahoma to the south, Nebraska to the north, Missouri to the east, and Colorado to the west. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kansas running races are an excellent option to explore the state. The entire state has a flat relief because Kansas is almost entirely located on the territory of the Great Plains. Only the eastern part of Kansas is hilly and, in some places, covered with forests. The largest rivers are the Missouri, Arkansas, and Kansas (which gave the state its name). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kansas 5K<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1. CASA Superhero Run<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The CASA Superhero Run<\/a> will be held on August 27, 2022. The course runs through scenic and historic Leavenworth, KS, followed by a children’s superhero race (100 yards).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All proceeds will benefit the CASA. The CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) is based on a belief that every child has the right to have a safe home. CASA volunteers talk with the child, parents, family members, neighbors, school officials, doctors, and others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Glow Run<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Glow Run<\/a> will be held on August 17, 2022, in the town of Ozawkie. It is a dog-friendly event. Here you can find multiple Blacklight stations for you to Glow and Take photos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the race, there will be music, tasty food, and refreshments at the City Park. Founders encourage everybody to come dressed in glow and neon as awards will be given to Best Dressed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in the 5k. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Leawood Rotary Labor Day 5K<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Leawood Rotary Labor Day 5K<\/a> will be held on September 5, 2022. It is a traditional Labor Day race. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The run starts and finishes at the American Academy of Family Physicians, 11400 Tomahawk Creek, Leawood, KS 66211. The course is flat and fast along Tomahawk Creek Parkway.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Runners in the 5K will get a great race t-shirt, finishers medal, post-race snacks and refreshments, and more! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kansas 10K<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

4. Mullet Run<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Mullet Run<\/a> will be held on August 27, 2022. It is a fun run for you and your friends, so wear your neon to this 80s-inspired race!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10K is the “party in the back.” It is challenging but also one of the most fun running races in Kansas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All proceeds will benefit the Winfield Community Food Pantry!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 10K, 5K, and 1M runs are chip-timed. All runners will get an 80’s themed goodie bag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Louisburg Cider Run<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Louisburg Cider Run<\/a> will be held on October 1, 2022.  It will be a fun event on a challenging course with hills, straightaways, and lots of interesting sites along the way that has been voted a runner favorite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Louisburg Cider 5K and 10K runs in Louisburg, Kansas take place at dusk. All finishers will get medals and race T-shirts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Run for the Rescue<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Run for the Rescue<\/a> will be held on November 5, 2022. There will be a 5K\/10K\/20K cross-country walk\/run held on a 160-acre ranch in the Flint Hills of Kansas. The start time for all races is 10 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event benefits Rainbow Meadows Equine Rescue and Retirement, Inc., located near Junction City, Kansas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Pony Express Half Marathon & 5K<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The 4th annual Pony Express Half Marathon & 5K<\/a> will be held on September 10, 2022. You will run through the paved and brick streets of Marysville along the scenic Blue River Rail Trail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The course starts in downtown Marysville and is located on a retired railroad bed along the Big Blue River. You will cross multiple bridges and see picturesque views of limestone outcrops, bluffs, and open farm fields. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along the route will be several aid stations. All runners will get a race T-shirt, and half marathoners will get a finisher medal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. De Soto Half Marathon & 5K<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The De Soto Half Marathon & 5K<\/a> will be held on October 2, 2022. It is a charity event with a challenging course. The race offers a picturesque view of De Soto as you run through the streets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Kansas City chapter of pancan.org.  The organization provides support, research, and finding a cure for pancreatic cancer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, at age 33, after a co-worker convinced him to try crossfit, he got back to working out and being active. Greg did crossfit for 5 years and ran occasionally to supplement his workouts. As his distances grew longer, a friend inspired him to run a half marathon, which they did together on his 37th birthday. He felt amazing after the run - and it was this feeling that he became addicted to and began thinking about training for a full marathon. As the months went by, he was inspired by an opposition Russian politician Evgeniy Royzman who talked about his marathon training in his weekly youtube posts, as well as by a Boston-based venture capitalists, Semyon Dukach, founder of One Way Ventures, who trained for and ran several marathons that year. Finally, in November of 2018, Greg partnered with Joe McConkey, a head trainer at Boston Running Center, and began training for his first marathon. Greg ran his first marathon in Newport in April. The race was major struggle, as he started out too fast and quickly realized that he was not ready for the amount of hills that comprised the course. But, after stopping several times, he nevertheless finished in exactly 4 hours which was his goal. The experience inspired him to continue to train and he ran his second marathon later that year in Liston, Portugal in a much faster 3 hours and 36 minutes. This race was along the beautiful Portugal coast, stretching from Cascais to Lisbon, and Greg was once again inspired to continue to train with the goal of running the Boston marathon next. Based on his age, the minimum qualifying time is 3:10, but given how many applicants typically apply he will need at least a 3:05 finish time to qualify. He continued to train for another 2 years and improved his time to 3 hours and 21 minutes in Albany, NY in October 2021. He also ran a half marathon in Maine in May 2022 and another full marathon in Biloxi, Mississippi in December 2022. All throughout his journey as a runner, Greg struggled to find his next race. Every time started looking, he found himself combing through dozens of websites and spending hours trying to figure out which races fit his location and time criteria, while also being interesting and relatively easy to run. In early 2022, fed up with this problem, Greg decided to build and launch Runzy so that runners like him could easily find the perfect race for them to run next. Finally, at age 33, after a co-worker convinced him to try crossfit, he got back to working out and being active. Greg did crossfit for 5 years and ran occasionally to supplement his workouts. As his distances grew longer, a friend inspired him to run a half marathon, which they did together on his 37th birthday. He felt amazing after the run - and it was this feeling that he became addicted to and began thinking about training for a full marathon. As the months went by, he was inspired by an opposition Russian politician Evgeniy Royzman who talked about his marathon training in his weekly youtube posts, as well as by a Boston-based venture capitalists, Semyon Dukach, founder of One Way Ventures, who trained for and ran several marathons that year. Finally, in November of 2018, Greg partnered with Joe McConkey, a head trainer at Boston Running Center, and began training for his first marathon. Greg ran his first marathon in Newport in April. The race was major struggle, as he started out too fast and quickly realized that he was not ready for the amount of hills that comprised the course. But, after stopping several times, he nevertheless finished in exactly 4 hours which was his goal. The experience inspired him to continue to train and he ran his second marathon later that year in Liston, Portugal in a much faster 3 hours and 36 minutes. This race was along the beautiful Portugal coast, stretching from Cascais to Lisbon, and Greg was once again inspired to continue to train with the goal of running the Boston marathon next. Based on his age, the minimum qualifying time is 3:10, but given how many applicants typically apply he will need at least a 3:05 finish time to qualify. He continued to train for another 2 years and improved his time to 3 hours and 21 minutes in Albany, NY in October 2021. He also ran a half marathon in Maine in May 2022 and another full marathon in Biloxi, Mississippi in December 2022. All throughout his journey as a runner, Greg struggled to find his next race. Every time started looking, he found himself combing through dozens of websites and spending hours trying to figure out which races fit his location and time criteria, while also being interesting and relatively easy to run. In early 2022, fed up with this problem, Greg decided to build and launch Runzy so that runners like him could easily find the perfect race for them to run next.
