St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>December 3, 2022<br>Start Time : 8:00 a.m.<br>Number of Places: 17000<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stjude.org\/get-involved\/fitness-fundraisers\/memphis-marathon.html\">St. Jude Memphis Marathon<\/a> Weekend starts on December 3rd and features Memphis landmarks and local flavor, hills, and lots of cheer stations, entertainment, and neighborhood parties along the way. Events include the marathon, half marathon, and 10K, following the same route until the shorter distances split off for the finish. All courses run through the heart of the St. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The course starts on B.B. King Blvd. between Beale St. and FedEx Forum. The route takes athletes through Downtown Memphis and up 2nd Street to the St. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital campus to greet patients and their families before heading south on Front St. through the bustling South Main District. Runners will then head east to Danny Thomas Blvd. and north to North Parkway.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Athletes will be attracted to distinctive neighborhoods like Hein Park and Evergreen\u2019s Stonewall St., whose cheer parties will keep your spirits up. The route also includes a two loop-run through beautiful Overton Park. Runners will head back to Danny Thomas Blvd. and return downtown via Union Ave. to the finish line &#8211;&nbsp; AutoZone Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>2. California International Marathon<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>December 4, 2022<br>Start Time : 7:00 a.m.<br>Number of Places: 9000<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/runsra.org\/\">The California International Marathon<\/a>, also known as the Sacramento Marathon, is a very popular race.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>California International Marathon Route<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The race runs from Folsom to Sacramento, passing through many beautiful neighborhoods such as Carmichael, Fair Oaks, Arden, East Sac, Midtown, and Downtown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first 15 miles of the route are run over rolling hills, after which the course becomes flatter. Now it is an annual race in Kingwood, Texas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Route description<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The course covers four loops on greenbelts in Kingwood, starting at the Greentree Pool, proceeding to Lake Houston, and returning to the Greentree Pool. The route is run entirely on concrete greenbelt trails, which are open to the public.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>4. The Miracle Match Marathon<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>January 29, 2023<br>Start Time : 7:30 a.m.<br>Number of Places: Over 200 runners are expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the help of fellow firefighters Wade Durbin and Joe Singer, Waco Firefighter C.W. Whorton organized <a href=\"https:\/\/miraclematchraceseries.run\/race-info\/\">the Miracle Match Marathon<\/a> in 2004. Each year it raises money to help match bone marrow donors with recipients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Miracle Match Marathon Course<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The route is hilly. The race is point-to-point, looping around part of Waco. The race starts at Indian Springs Park on University Parks Blvd, in front of a suspension bridge. It follows a clockwise loop, heading towards Lake Waco and then back around to the Brazos River before the final leg to the finish line. The Death Valley Marathon<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>February 4, 2023<br>Start Time : 8:00 a.m.<br>Number of Places: 300<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/raceroster.com\/events\/2023\/58693\/2023-death-valley-marathon-half-marathon-and-10k\">The Death Valley Marathon<\/a> is an engaging road race through the famous Death Valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Death Valley Marathon Course<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Athletes will experience a scenic, relatively flat, out-and-back course. The race starts at Oasis Ranch at Furnace Creek. From there, runners follow Hwy. 190 through the heart of Death Valley National Park, including a section through scenic Mustard Canyon.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Running the complete distance below sea level, runners will get acquainted with exotic flora and fauna that can only be found on the desert floor while enjoying fantastic views of the surrounding mountains, including the Panamints, the Funerals, the Cottonwoods, the Blacks, and the Grapevines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>6. The Austin Marathon<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>February 19, 2023<br>Start Time : 7:00 a.m.<br>Number of Places: 5,000<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youraustinmarathon.com\/\">The Austin Marathon<\/a> is a Boston Marathon qualifier and attracts a lot of participants. For this reason, places fill quickly, and applicants are advised to apply as soon as registration opens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Austin Marathon course has some hills, so runners are advised to include hill training in their preparation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The marathon starts at 16th Street and Congress Avenue, near the capital. Athletes then make their way through downtown Austin, finishing at 10th Street and Congress Avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the first 17 miles of the run, athletes climb a total of 304 feet. This elevation allows them to use a variety of muscle groups in their legs and time to recover with intermittent downhill and level running surfaces. Finally, at age 33, after a co-worker convinced him to try crossfit, he got back to working out and being active. Greg did crossfit for 5 years and ran occasionally to supplement his workouts. As his distances grew longer, a friend inspired him to run a half marathon, which they did together on his 37th birthday. He felt amazing after the run - and it was this feeling that he became addicted to and began thinking about training for a full marathon. As the months went by, he was inspired by an opposition Russian politician Evgeniy Royzman who talked about his marathon training in his weekly youtube posts, as well as by a Boston-based venture capitalists, Semyon Dukach, founder of One Way Ventures, who trained for and ran several marathons that year. Finally, in November of 2018, Greg partnered with Joe McConkey, a head trainer at Boston Running Center, and began training for his first marathon. Greg ran his first marathon in Newport in April. The race was major struggle, as he started out too fast and quickly realized that he was not ready for the amount of hills that comprised the course. But, after stopping several times, he nevertheless finished in exactly 4 hours which was his goal. The experience inspired him to continue to train and he ran his second marathon later that year in Liston, Portugal in a much faster 3 hours and 36 minutes. This race was along the beautiful Portugal coast, stretching from Cascais to Lisbon, and Greg was once again inspired to continue to train with the goal of running the Boston marathon next. Based on his age, the minimum qualifying time is 3:10, but given how many applicants typically apply he will need at least a 3:05 finish time to qualify. He continued to train for another 2 years and improved his time to 3 hours and 21 minutes in Albany, NY in October 2021. He also ran a half marathon in Maine in May 2022 and another full marathon in Biloxi, Mississippi in December 2022. All throughout his journey as a runner, Greg struggled to find his next race. Every time started looking, he found himself combing through dozens of websites and spending hours trying to figure out which races fit his location and time criteria, while also being interesting and relatively easy to run. Finally, at age 33, after a co-worker convinced him to try crossfit, he got back to working out and being active. Greg did crossfit for 5 years and ran occasionally to supplement his workouts. As his distances grew longer, a friend inspired him to run a half marathon, which they did together on his 37th birthday. He felt amazing after the run - and it was this feeling that he became addicted to and began thinking about training for a full marathon. As the months went by, he was inspired by an opposition Russian politician Evgeniy Royzman who talked about his marathon training in his weekly youtube posts, as well as by a Boston-based venture capitalists, Semyon Dukach, founder of One Way Ventures, who trained for and ran several marathons that year. Finally, in November of 2018, Greg partnered with Joe McConkey, a head trainer at Boston Running Center, and began training for his first marathon. Greg ran his first marathon in Newport in April. The race was major struggle, as he started out too fast and quickly realized that he was not ready for the amount of hills that comprised the course. But, after stopping several times, he nevertheless finished in exactly 4 hours which was his goal. The experience inspired him to continue to train and he ran his second marathon later that year in Liston, Portugal in a much faster 3 hours and 36 minutes. This race was along the beautiful Portugal coast, stretching from Cascais to Lisbon, and Greg was once again inspired to continue to train with the goal of running the Boston marathon next. Based on his age, the minimum qualifying time is 3:10, but given how many applicants typically apply he will need at least a 3:05 finish time to qualify. He continued to train for another 2 years and improved his time to 3 hours and 21 minutes in Albany, NY in October 2021. He also ran a half marathon in Maine in May 2022 and another full marathon in Biloxi, Mississippi in December 2022. All throughout his journey as a runner, Greg struggled to find his next race. Every time started looking, he found himself combing through dozens of websites and spending hours trying to figure out which races fit his location and time criteria, while also being interesting and relatively easy to run. In early 2022, fed up with this problem, Greg decided to build and launch Runzy so that runners like him could easily find the perfect race for them to run next.
